The total grain output in Heilongjiang Province, China's largest commodity grain producer, exceeds 43.5 billion Kilograms in 2009, an increase of 1.28 billion kilograms over the previous year, which is the biggest harvest in the province's history.

Heilongjiang government has introduced policies to increase grain production by supporting Songnen and Sanjiang Plain Agricultural Experimental Areas, increasing farming investment at the beginning of this year. Heilongjiang has set an ambitious plan to make its annual grain production reach 50 billion kilograms, in order to better ensure China's food safety.
