Russia's horticulture sector continues to flourish, driven by government support and the rapid establishment of modern intensive orchards, which covered 8,500 hectares in 2024 alone. This is reported by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

This growth is further bolstered by advancements in domestic fruit crop breeding, as new varieties adapted to the country's diverse climates are being developed.

Between 2023 and 2025, six new varieties of pome fruits have been officially added to Russia's State Register of Breeding Achievements. These include the apple varieties Blagodatnoe Koltso, Krymskoe Zolotistoe, and Pamyati Pokrovskoy, which boast resistance to pests, diseases, drought, and extreme frosts of up to -26°C.

Developing a high-quality apple variety requires extensive research, including the analysis of consumer preferences. Experts noted the critical role of collaboration between researchers, horticulturalists, and retail networks in creating varieties that combine disease resistance, climate adaptability, and exceptional taste.
