Hunan relies on the development of international tourism

The Chinese Cultural Centre in Moscow hosted an event dedicated to the cultural and tourist potential of Hunan Province. The guests got acquainted with Hunan embroidery, porcelain, tasted local tea.

"In 2024, 3.224 million tourists visited Hunan, up 187.7 per cent from last year. Their spending reached US$1.616 million (about 136 million rubles - Ed.), up 456.5 percent," Xiao Zhenghu, director of the promotion, communication and cooperation division of Hunan's Department of Culture and Tourism, said at the event.

He noted that the region received 35,000 tourists from Russia this year.

Wang Rui, director of China's National Tourism Office in Moscow, added that Russians are already familiar with the province's culture, as a symphony orchestra featuring musicians from Hunan performed at the Kremlin Palace last August.

"We are confident that with the joint efforts of the two sides, a bright future awaits cultural and tourism cooperation between Hunan and Russia," she said.

Hunan Province is located in the central part of China, with an area of about 211,800 square kilometres. An important feature of the region is its geographical diversity: there are both mountain ranges and fertile plains, as well as vast rivers and lakes.
