Hong Kong stocks closed down 223.53 points, or 0.82 percent, to 27,100.06 points on Thursday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 26,871.11 and 27,405.25. Turnover totaled 124.54 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 15.86 billion U.S. dollars).
