Shu Qun (Heilongjiang local) Sept 20, 1913鈥擜ug 2, 1989 The writer Shu Qun, originally named Li Shutang, was a local from Harbin in Heilongjiang province. As one of the representatives of the Northeast Writers Group and a member of the CCP in 1932, he enlisted himself in the League of Leftist Writers in 1935 and undertook a series of work experiences as military correspondent of the Headquarter of the Eighth Route Army. He also worked as editor-in-chief of the supplement of the Liberation Daily at Yan鈥檃n, dean of Lu Xun Art and Literature Department at Yan鈥檃n. Other titles that he held were vice-president of the Northeast University, manager of Northeast Film Studio and cochairman of Northeastern Art & Literature League. After liberation, he engaged himself in the following work posts as vice Secretary-general of the China Federation of Literature and Art, trustee of the 2nd and 3rd sessions of Chinese Writers鈥?Association, consultant of Chinese Writers鈥?Association and deputy manager of Benxi Alloy Factory. He was also committeeman of the 5th and 6th sessions of the National Committee of CPPCC. His major works included short story collections The Homeless Children, nouvelle A Story about Secret, Sega novel One Generation and the Literary Works Collection of Shu Qun (four volumes in total). Magnum Opus:The Homeless Children, The Veteran, The Night Girl (poem), Messages from the Outcast (poem), Diary in a Week (prose) and The Staggering Steps. |
