Research into Communism theories in contemporary China should address issues that people care about, said a senior Chinese official here Wednesday.

While focusing on research on topical issues and problems in the social life and paying attention to what ordinary people think about, researchers should work to offer answers to questions that concern the broad masses of the people most, said Liu Yunshan, head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, at a forum held in Beijing.

He said that it is also necessary to make great efforts to popularize the latest achievements in theoretical research, using conventional means of publicity -- newspapers, magazines, books, radio and TV programs -- and new communication channels, especially the Internet.
