Wu Tuanliang was born in 1954 as a Daur minority, from Inner Mongolia. He is a member of the China Artists Association, director of the China Institute of Contemporary Chinese Painting, president of Heilongjiang Artist Association and professional painter of the Heilongjiang Art Museum. He is a first level artist, enjoying special government allowances of the State Council of Experts.

His works were selected in the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th Chinese Art Exhibition and every national fine brushwork painting exhibition with honors. He has joined in many important art and academy activities and traveled to Japan, USA, Singapore and other countries as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan to hold personal exhibitions, federated exhibitions, and academic communications. In 2008, he was celebrated as one of the top 30 contemporary painters having the most academic value and market potential.
