Daqing oilfield in west Heilongjiang was discovered in 1958 and was put into development in 1960. It became the biggest oilfield with an annual output of 10 million tons in 1966. Since 1976, after the annual output of base oil reached 50 million tons, it produced over 50 million tons steadily for a long time. Daqing oilfield has had great achievements in oil exploration and made great contributions to the economic development of the homeland during half a century. In these 50 years, the base oil produced from Daqing oilfield equals 1.5 tons of oil per person among a population of 1.3 billion in the entire nation. If the base oil produced from Daqing oilfield were put into a 60-ton of oil tank and connected, it could circle 10 times around the equator.
