After the founding of new China, Heilongjiang Province was listed to be the key industrial construction province. During 60-years of development and construction, it has gradually formed the heavy industry structure as the main body while large-scale enterprises are the backbone. A rational distributed and complete range of industrial systems contributed a lot to vigorously developing Heilongjiang鈥檚 economy and nation鈥檚 construction. Some key technology and crafts including heavy machinery, metallurgical equipment, precision instruments and industrial measuring tools, power equipment and robots have reached the international or national advanced level.

Large and medium-sized enterprises in Heilongjiang played an unsubstantial part in the nation鈥檚 construction. At the end of 鈥淓ight Five鈥? it offered oil and railway trucks which accounted for more than half of the total output and one third of wood, power equipment and heavy machinery.
