According to Wan Gang, China will greatly support the R&D and market application of new energy vehicles such as electrically powered automobiles. Meanwhile, the country will keep imposing stricter emission and gas consumption standards on gasoline-driven cars.
The minister said that China is striving to become a world's leader in vehicle emission control and energy consumption levels. The target has been set to achieve in 2020.
After ten years' efforts, China has formed a distribution of hybrid, electric and battery automobiles. China is now capable of developing key parts used in electric cars. In the coming years, the country will continue its bus-priority strategy and promote the application of electric vehicles in public transport sector.
