Born in Beijing in 1947 and a graduate of Beijing Huiwen High School in 1966, he went to work in the countryside in the Great Northern Wilderness in 1968. Graduated from the Central Academy of Drama in 1982, he used to teach in the primary school, middle school, and university. In addition, he was once deputy editor-in-chief of Fiction Selections. Now he is deputy editor-in-chief of People鈥檚 Literature magazine. His masterpieces include the novels of We Were Once In Love, and Puppy Love; collections of novellas and short stories such as International Grand Master and His Wife, Adventures in the Great Northern Wilderness, and The Fading Affection; collections of reportage such as The Cabin Along the Bank of Haihe River; Live as a Hero; and Ah, Junior and Senior High School Graduates of 1966-1968; and Biographical literature of Darwin.
