Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping on Wednesday called on members of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to learn from Wu Daguan, a late chief designer of aeroengines.
Since Wu became a CPC member 60 years ago, he had linked his own life to the future of the nation, and made outstanding contributions to the country's areoengine research cause, Xi said while meeting with a delegation scheduled to report on Wu's deeds later.
A native of Zhenjiang City of east Jiangsu Province, Wu was born in 1916 and died of illness in March at the age of 93. He devoted himself to the research of areoengines after returning to China from the United States in 1947.
Wu was strictly self-disciplined and corruption-free, and was a model CPC member, Xi said.
