The first Emergency and Oil Spill Emergency Response drill is to be jointly held on Heihe waters of the Heilongjiang River by China and Russia August 18th.
The exercise is to simulate a serious maritime accident. During the drill, a passenger vessel collides an oil tanker. Later water floods into the vessel and passengers have to escape from the danger by jumping into the river. The oil tanker catches a fire after some 100 tons of oil spilled. A series of exercises including water search and rescue, fire fighting and contamination control will be staged.
