Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Monday Turkey and China will turn a new page in bilateral relationships after his just-concluded visit to China.

"My trip to China was successful in every aspect and I returned to Turkey with great satisfaction," said Gul at a press conference at Ankara Esenboga Airport after arriving from China.

He said the Sino-Turkish ties will enter a new page, especially in such areas of economy, trade and tourism, with new projects to be launched.

Gul said that Turkey and China will continue not only to develop the existing strong economic ties, but also the political ties between the two countries.

At the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao, Gul visited the Chinese cities of Beijing, Xi'an, Shenzhen and Urumqi from June 24 to 29.

During their official talks, Gul and Hu pledged to advance bilateral relationships to a new level and witnessed the signing of seven bilateral documents on cooperation in foreign affairs, energy, cultural heritage, mass media and trade.

Gul also attended the China-Turkey Business Forum held on Friday, where Chinese and Turkish companies signed six bilateral business cooperation pacts worth 1 billion euros (about 1.39 billion U.S. dollars), involving infrastructure, power, mining, agricultural trade and other fields.

Gul told press he was deeply impressed by his visit to Urumqi, capital city of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, saying the city has seen rapid development and large-scale construction of new infrastructure.

He said he was glad to be the first Turkish president who paid a two-day visit to Xinjiang, and he gave a speech at Xinjiang University, which granted him an honorary professor title.
