Lead - Construction of world's first AP1000 nuclear power generating set is well underway in Zhejiang's Sanmen.

Picture on - Construction of the AP1000 third generation nuclear sets began on April 19th. The project adopts the latest nuclear power generation technology developed by the US Westinghouse Electric Company.

The Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant will build six generating sets with a total installed capacity of 7.5 million kilowatt. The No.1 generating set will be put into commercial operation in November 2013.

Upon the completion of the plant's first phase construction in 2014, it will be able to generate up to 17.5 billion kilowatt-hour of electricity annually, accounting for 4.4% of the power needs of Zhejiang Province.
