China reports $216 bln trade surplus in Jan.-Oct. period

        China's General Administration of Customs on Wednesday announced that the country's trade surplus in the first ten months of this year stood at 215.99 billion U.S. dollars, with the trade surplus of October reaching 35.24 billion U.S. dollars.

        Figures also showed that the country's combined export from January to October reached 1.2 trillion U.S. dollars, up 21.9 percent year on year.

        The growth rate was 4.6 percentage points lower compared with the same period last year.

        The administration said that China's exports topped 128.3 billion U.S. dollars, while its imports reached 93.1 billion U.S. dollars in October.
