Authorities in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, which shares a long border with Russia's Far East, have reported that the number of Russian visitors is booming, six months after China introduced visa-free entry for Russian citizens.
By mid March, 232,000 Russian travelers had entered Heilongjiang through its ports since the new visa policy took effect, a 61.2% increase from a year earlier, border inspection data from the province showed.
Shopping, traditional Chinese medicine therapies and business meetings have become major attractions for Russian travelers.
