Rimi, an international student from Bangladesh at Northeast Agricultural University, has spent eight precious years of her life in Harbin. When she first arrived, she could barely speak Chinese. With the warm companionship of strangers and classmates, she weathered the harsh winters. Now, she is capable of publishing academic papers independently, and her Mandarin has earned praise from her teachers. Harbin is not only her place of study but also a second hometown that has witnessed her growth and transformation.
Over these eight years, she has personally experienced the city’s development and changes. Amid the fusion of ice, snow, and warmth that defines Harbin, she has found a sense of belonging in a foreign land and has come to understand the resilient spirit with which this city grows and thrives beneath its frosty surface.
