Air quality in Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province improved remarkably during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), according to an analysis report on air pollution prevention and control released by the provincial ecology and environment department.
In 2025, the proportion of days with excellent or good air quality in the province reached 93.7%, placing it among the top 10 provinces nationwide for air quality.
Furthermore, the average concentration of PM2.5 – fine particulate matter hazardous to human health – dropped to 26.8 micrograms per cubic meter last year, down by 1 microgram per cubic meter from the previous year. This figure was the best among China’s three northeastern provinces.
