HARBIN, Jan. 14 (HLJBS) – Northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province serves as a vital gateway for the country’s opening-up to the north and a primary hub for cooperation with Russia.
A sophisticated transport network linking China and Russia and extending into Eurasia is rapidly taking shape, thanks to the continuous advancement of cross-border routes and corridors and the construction of ports.
Improved transport infrastructure has significantly boosted port performance. The cargo throughput at Suifenhe Port last year hit a five-year high. Meanwhile, the lasting convenience offered by the Heilongjiang Railway Bridge – China’s first cross-border river railway bridge – has enabled the Port of Tongjiang to double its annual cargo volume since its inauguration three years ago.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), Heilongjiang Province has inaugurated four new ports: the Heihe Highway Port, Heihe Pedestrian Port, Tongjiang Railway Port, and Heixiazi Island Highway Port.
The total annual cargo throughput capacity of the province’s 19 border ports has increased from 53.47 million tons to 82.94 million tons, marking a significant widening of the northern gateway for opening-up.
