A traditional winter fishing ceremony was held recently at Jingpo Lake in Mudanjiang City, northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province, marking the start of the winter fishing season. The event aims to boost the integrated development of the local fishery and tourism sectors, contributing to the upgrading of the regional economy.
The cold-water fish harvested from the frozen lake are highly prized for their freshness. At the sorting ground by the lakeside, workers were busy processing the catch.
Some fish, still coated in ice, were sold directly to awaiting consumers, offering them the first taste of the season. The remainder of the catch was transferred to an on-site low-temperature storage facility, initiating a preservation process designed to maintain quality and ensure the distribution of the fresh lake fish to consumers across the country.
