New programmes will take into account key medical challenges

Sechenov University will launch joint educational programmes with leading Malaysian universities. The main directions will be preventive medicine, rehabilitation and biomedical engineering. This is reported by the press service of the University, referring to the words of Rector Petr Glybochko at the meeting of the Malaysia-Russia working group on education, science, and technology in Malacca.

According to his information, more than 1,500 Malaysian citizens have graduated from the Sechenov University over the past 15 years. In 2024, the university signed a memorandum with the University of Malaya (Universiti Malaya), the country's oldest research institution.

Glybochko noted that the new programmes will take into account the key challenges of medicine: ageing population, development of personalised treatment and restoration of patients' ability to work. In addition, additional education courses will be developed for Malaysian doctors – Russian experts will offer more than 430 programmes that can be adapted to the partners' needs.

The rector emphasised that another area of cooperation is the creation of a scientific group to coordinate joint projects in the field of regenerative medicine, biomedical cellular products and innovative pharmaceuticals.
