Elections of new deputies to people's congresses in township and county-level regions are being held smoothly, the General Office of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee said Tuesday.
In keeping with the Constitution and laws, China has kicked off township and county-level congress elections from the first half of this year, the office said.
Three provincial-level regions of Shanxi, Hebei and Tibet have completed the township and county-level congress elections and convened the first congress meeting attended by the newly-elected deputies, while 28 other provincial-level regions have set their election schedules and will follow through no later than in the first half of next year, said the office.
