[Photo: Chinanews.com] An official memorial has been held in east China's Nanjing City to commemorate a massacre 79 years ago. Those attending observed a few moments of silence and listened to a recitation before the ceremony was brought to a close with the tolling of bells. The memorial ceremony was part of China's 3rd National Day for Commemorating the Nanjing Massacre. More than 300,000 people, mostly disarmed soldiers and civilians, were murdered in the space of just six weeks in late 1937 and early 1938 by Japanese forces . |
