A response to a bullying incident in one of Beijing's top schools was issued by the Haidian District Municipal Commission of Education in Beijing on Sunday evening.

This was issued shortly after its higher authority, Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, responded to the incident, saying they will find the problems and deal with it properly.

The Haidian District branch also said that they will work out a scheme on school bullying prevention for juveniles. The controversy started when a mother in Beijing posted an article online detailing her 10-year-old son experiencing bullying at Zhongguancun No. 2 Primary School, a top school in Haidian District.

The mother wrote that bullies threw a rubbish bin from the toilet at her son, hitting him in the head.

The incident has aroused huge public concern with an article titled "Say no to school bullying".

The student's parents said on Saturday that their son has not wanted to return to school. The mother wrote in the article the bullying brought on an acute stress disorder.

Others say the real story is not as simple.

One Wechat user, claiming his child is in the same class as the victim commented that he is unfriendly and his mother was once a screenplay writer.

Another user said the victim has been learning karate and not as weak as the article described.

The parents of the bullies have not commented.

Zhongguancun No.2 Primary School said it's been trying to reach a consensus.

It said it will reserve the right to take legal actions for any kind of rumors.

According to the Ministry of Education, 68 bullying incidents within schools have been reported between May and August this year.

Xia Xueluan, Sociology professor of Peking University suggests that it's a huge responsibility for schools to teach children what is right and what is wrong, and the school needs to deal with school bullying with an impartial and objective attitude.
