China's top legislator is calling on people in Hong Kong to take advantage of the opportunities created by the Belt and Road Initiative.

Addressing a Belt and Road Summit in Hong Kong, Zhang Dejiang says the central government attaches a lot of importance to Hong Kong's prosperity and stability, as well as its role in the national strategy.

The top legislator Hong Kong's ability to specialize in areas such as accounting, design, consulting and other professional services is going to be of great benefit to the Belt-and-road initiative.

He also says the central government also wants to turn Hong Kong into a center for international dispute resolution services in the Asia Pacific.

Zhang Dejiang is in Hong Kong for a 3-day inspection tour of the region.
