A delegation of China's Tibetan legislators on Thursday met and held candid exchanges with Nancy Pelosi of California, the Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives in Washington DC, on China-US relationship and China's policies related to its Tibet Autonomous Region. The Delegation is led by Qizhala, deputy to China's National People's Congress and secretary of the Communist Party of China Lhasa Municipal Committee. During their meeting, Qizhala expressed the hope that the US would stick to its promise and refrain from accommodating secessionist activities by the Dalai Lama. He also points out that a healthy relationship between China and the US is in the best interests of both countries and their peoples. China will work with the US to improve communication, coordination and cooperation on bilateral, regional and global scales, in order to create positive results that would benefit both countries and the rest of the world. Pelosi reiterated the US's subscription to the One-China policy and the fact that Tibet is an integral part of the Chinese territory. She believes the bridge of friendship between China and the US will be bolstered by greater exchanges between the two sides. On the same day, the delegation also elaborated on the development of the economic, the rule of law, culture, education and religion in the Tibet Autonomous Region to a number of experts and scholars during a seminar hosted at the Brookings Institute. The visiting delegation of China's Tibetan legislators has wrapped up its two-week visits in the US and Mexico where they conducted activities to enhance mutual understanding between China and the two countries respectively. |
