British actress Maisie Williams, better known as Arya Stark in the hit series Game of Thrones, says her role in new film The Falling has allowed her to stretch her acting muscles. The drama follows the friendship between the troubled Lydia and the charismatic Abbie at a strict English girls' school in 1969. After a tragedy occurs at the institution, a mysterious fainting epidemic breaks out among the girls and Lydia sets to find out what causes the collective fallings. Williams says that the role of Lydia was perfect for her. "When I heard about Lydia and this film I was immediately, I knew I could do it and I knew I wanted to be Lydia. I knew that I could find that and I knew that that was who I was and I was just shocked to know that Carol Morley, our director, she saw that too and I was just so intrigued as to how she knew that. No one has ever seen me in a role like this before," The Falling was screened this week in Beijing during the International Film Festival and is released in the UK next week. |
