A Nigerian government delegation arrived in Brazil on Wednesday to cheer the Super Eagles as they are to begin their World Cup campaign on Monday. Nigeria's Senate president David Mark leads the delegation selected by Nigerian leader Goodluck Jonathan, a statement said on Wednesday. The delegation includes other senior government officials of the West African country who are expected to hold talks with the team. "Mark is expected to deliver (President) Jonathan's goodwill message to the players and officials and also hold pep talks with them ahead of their opening game," said the statement issued by spokesperson of the Nigerian senate leader. The Nigerian delegation will also attend the opening ceremony of the World Cup and watch the Super Eagles' matches with Iran and Bosnia and Herzegovina respectively before heading back home, added the statement. The Super Eagles, currently the African champions, face Iran in their first World Cup group match on June 16. |
