銆€銆€OSAKA, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- A special Techno-Art event called " Asia Student Creative Exchange" was held in the western Japanese city of Osaka on Thursday. 銆€銆€Organized by the Osaka-based association Knowledge Capital in cooperation with Hong Kong Cyberport, Media Development Authority in Singapore and other governmental agencies in Asia, the event was arranged in Osaka City Central Public Hall, aiming at developing Asian youth creativity and exploring its commercial viability and practical applications. 銆€銆€More than 300 students, creators, researchers and entrepreneurs from Japan and Asian regions attended the opening conference of the first trial event. After the meeting, Shi Wenxiang, one of the key speakers, also president of the CGCG Inc. said to Xinhua that since Asian people can share very well their creative thinking skills and techniques each other, the Osaka event would serve as one of the ways to generate more unique and innovative ideas as well as information technologies which can compete as a whole with contents distributed by major companies and studios such as Hollywood. 銆€銆€On display at more than 10 booths in the hall were technology contents and interactive creations exhibited by local universities. Among them was a tabletop installation titled "Tamasui", displayed by a group from Osaka University, that enables audience to feel beauty and evanescence of water drops which are familiar with them, they said, through interaction by "touching", "feeding" or even " surprising" them. 銆€銆€"By utilizing the unevenness of the fabric, we can here control, via self-made information display device, water drops as if they were alive," said Yohei Kojima, a spokesperson for the group of the Osaka University Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, adding "Our group will try to develop this technology to apply, for example, to fluid water or wave simulations in the future." 銆€銆€According to the organizer Knowledge Capital, screenings and presentations of 3D-CG films made by students in Asian regions will be also shown in the evening while awards are given to several outstanding works which will be selected from among 134 submissions. 銆€銆€The Osaka-based association said it would arrange the Techno- Art event every year, inviting people and groups from Asian regions as many as possible.
