Visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said Sunday in talks with Speaker of Saudi Arabia's Consultative Council Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh that the two countries would further enhance bilateral relations within the strategic framework. China and Saudi Arabia enjoy a solid political basis, are highly complementary in economic fields, and the two peoples cherish genuine friendship toward each other, said Wen. The Chinese premier hailed the China-Saudi Arabia consensus to enhance bilateral relations within the strategic framework as a major achievement for his visit. Implementing this consensus, he added, would require close coordination between the two governments and joint efforts by people from all walks of life. Wen noted that the Saudi Consultative Council plays an important role in the political life in Saudi Arabia, and wished the Council to continue to support the development of China-Saudi Arabia relations. The Saudi speaker said Wen's visit would produce fruitful results and a profound influence in the context of rapid-changing regional and international situations. He pledged that the Saudi Consultative Council would step up exchanges with China's National People's Congress, with an aim to provide advice on developing bilateral relations and push the Saudi Arabia-China friendly cooperation to a new height. Wen arrived here Saturday evening after an official visit to Nepal. After his stay in Saudi Arabia, the Chinese leader will continue his visit to the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. |
