Yu Chengyou was born in 1953, as part of the Jimo minority, Shandong Province. He is a member of China Artist Association, dean of Heilongjiang Engraving Institute, vice-director of Heilongjiang Engraving Art Committee, painter of Heilongjiang Artist Association and National Class-A artist.

His work 鈥楴ight of a Village鈥?got silver prize at The 6th National Art Works Exhibition; 鈥榊oung Leaves of Tea鈥?received the golden prize of the Japan and China Engraving Award and 鈥楨ntangle鈥?received the silver prize of The 12th National Engraving Exhibition. His work 鈥楬eavy Snow鈥ational Highway Passing Through Kaoshantun鈥?got silver prize at The 13th National Engraving Exhibition; and in 1999, he received the China Excellent Engraving Artist of the 1980s-1990s 鈥淟uxun Engraving Prize鈥? Hundreds of works were collected by the China Art Hall, Japan International Engraving Art Hall, British Woodcut Fund and other professional agencies and collectors from home and abroad. He has published two personal picture albums.
