China is famous for its rich traditional arts. A new method to preserve those arts, a special documentary called "Senior Artists Dictate History" is helping to vividly document the art world. Artists like Cao Peng, Chen Xieyang and Cai Zhengren from the fields of music, traditional opera and television, participated in the film.

They told of their experiences, the stories behind the scenes, and historic events in the art world. According to famous artist Cao Peng, this type of oral history is different from the typical method of documentation and provides more specific details. Since 2006, the film project has accumulated some 60 artist’s oral histories. This project aims to preserve art and continue its development.
