Kunqu Opera is the mother of all Chinese operas, one of the oldest forms. Its origins can be traced to the late Yuan Dynasty some 600 years ago. Now its sounds are ringing through the air in New York. Some 20 performers from the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe took the stage. Their first show "Lan Keshan" tells a touching love story in soft tones and elegant moves. They are also wowing audiences with other classic Kunqu pieces. Organizer Ku Bo called it a huge success, giving American audiences a look into different arts and performing methods, and enhancing opera exchanges. The troupe will be performing for 3 days.
