Canadian team: ethnic Chinese, transnational group battle together Canadian No.1 Team: Johnny’s ancestral home is Guangdong, while Peter Kong’s ancestral home is Fujian. These two sculptors have been to Harbin many times. They both sighed with emotion that Harbin city has changed a lot, and every time they come back they are surprised. Their work in this competition is named “Mermaid”. “Beautiful mermaid living in the deep sea. Pearls and fish accompany her. We want to show a real underwater world with the mermaid.” Johnny said. Canadian No.2 Team: Donald and Peter both came to Harbin for the first time. Their ice sculpture is “Global Warming”. Donald said, “Thawing glaciers are very serious. Our work tells people that global warming is horrible because of moving polar bears. Donald asked the reporter how to say “thanks” in Chinese. He thought it was useful. When the reporter praised him he spoke very well, he joked that, “If you thought I speak well, it means you hearing is not well.”
