South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region could carry out close cooperation with Zambia in mining, agriculture and tourism, Guangxi's Party chief Guo Shengkun told visiting Zambian President Rupiah Banda on Monday. Guangxi's technology and expertise could be introduced in mineral resource development and process in Zambia, said Guo, secretary of the regional committee of the Communist Party of China, during a meeting with Banda in Guilin, a renowned tourist city. The region also boasts advanced technology in growing subtropical crops such as rice, sugarcane and cassava, which can be adopted in the African country, Guo said. Banda said he agreed with the proposal of Guo, adding that Zambia-China cooperation would enjoy huge potentials as a result of rapid economic growth of China. Guangxi is the second leg of Banda's first state visit to China since becoming Zambian President in 2008. He arrived in Beijing on Feb. 24. He will also visit south China's economic powerhouse Guangdong Province before ending the trip. |
