Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd., under its corporate social responsibility program, funded Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) a 3 million U.S. dollars wireless communication laboratory.
Vice Chancellor of BUET A.M.M. Safiullah at the launching ceremony held here Tuesday expressed his thanks to Huawei for its support to build the lab which would be very helpful for the students who want to pursue career in telecom sector.
"The laboratory will serve the pressing needs for training and development of our local talents and will contribute greatly towards the development of telecom sector in country," Safiullah said.
Deputy Chief Representative of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) said at the function this initiative is certainly a milestone to create technical expert in Bangladesh.
"We are honored to partner with BUET," he added.
The wireless communication laboratory is aimed at carrying out training, research and development for telecoms engineers.
The facility is entirely financed by Huawei Technologies, a world-leading telecom solutions provider, to ensure local talents pursue career in thriving telecom sector of Bangladesh.
Huawei entered into Bangladesh market in 1998. With 11 years development, Huawei has now become No.1 telecom solutions provider in Bangladesh, employing more than 800 people out of whom 700 are locals.
BUET has a history over 100 years. It got the current name in 1971.
