A vibrant new chapter of the ice-snow economy is unfolding at the nationally famous China Snow Town, which attracts about 1.5 million visitors from home and abroad every winter.
Fan Zhaoyi was among the pioneers of the homestay business in Snow Town. A decade ago, there were only three rooms in his homestay, just run by his family of three. Ten years on, it has expanded to 30 rooms and employs more than a dozen staff during the peak season.
Fan Zhaoyi said that snow is as precious as gold and silver here. His annual income was already over 100,000 yuan ten years ago. Now, it's about 7 or 8 times that amount.
