China's latest 1,200-kilowatt-class turboprop engine successfully completed its ignition test in the freezing cold conditions of minus 30 degrees Celsius in Harbin, capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, on January 15th.
The turboprop engine, which was developed independently by AECC Harbin Dong'an Engine Company Limited, achieved stable operation on ground at 30 degrees Celsius below zero, marking that the research and development work entered the phase of experimental verification.
The turboprop engine is safe and cost-effective, and it features a long lifespan and consumes less fuel. It can be widely used in general aviation platforms such as general aviation aircrafts and unmanned aerial vehicles.
