HARBIN, Jan. 14 (HLJBS) – Bumper harvests rely heavily on fertile farmland. The development of high-standard farmland is crucial for preserving the fertility of black soil and addressing agricultural challenges.
During the lengthy offseason this winter, many areas in Heilongjiang Province are seizing this critical period to systematically advance the construction of high-standard farmland, which includes land improvement and facility upgrades.
Heilongjiang has cumulatively developed 125 million mu (approximately 8.33 million hectares) of high-standard farmland, leading the country in this regard for seven consecutive years. This achievement has laid a solid foundation for increasing grain output and ensuring stable harvests across the vast black soil region of the northeastern province.
To date, all 57 high-standard farmland projects in Heilongjiang funded by ultra-long special treasury bonds, covering 11.69 million mu (approximately 779,000 hectares), have been completed, setting a new record.
Furthermore, the northeastern province has been assigned a new national task of developing about 9.8 million mu (approximately 653,333 hectares) of high-standard farmland, ranking first in the country in terms of the newly allocated area.
