The much-anticipated Northeast China City Football League, known as the Northeast Super League, has finalized all competition details and is set to officially kick off on May 23.
Jointly organized by the sports administrations of Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang Provinces as well as the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the regional football tournament will feature eight city-based teams from across the vast northeast.
The league will emphasize a “city-first” identity. Each team will be required to have deep roots in its home city, from choosing its name and operating its home stadium to engaging with the local community.
To date, six cities – including Hohhot and Tongliao – have organized their teams. Harbin and Jixi in Heilongjiang Province are advancing preparatory work and plan to finalize their squads by March.
