This winter, iron pot stewed goose has become a must-try dish for every tourist visiting Northeast China. In Linkou, Heilongjiang, 68-year-old restaurant owner Shao Hua, known as the “Fat Goose Granny,” has led her team to create over 140 innovative goose dishes.
Recently, international students from Laos, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Congo, and other countries visited Linkou. While savoring delicious goose dishes, they also explored how the goose industry has become a driving force for the local economy.
Linkou County has a long history of goose farming and has successfully established the “Linkou Goose” as a geographical indication product. This year, the county’s goose farming is expected to reach 2 million birds, forming a full industrial chain from hatching, breeding, slaughtering, and processing to gourmet dining, boosting farmers' incomes and prosperity.
