Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, in a letter addressed to Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressed the republic's readiness to join BRICS as a partner country, according to a statement on the Belarusian Foreign Ministry’s website.

The document was formally delivered by Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhenkov to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus during a personal meeting, officially marking Belarus as a BRICS partner country.

The Belarusian leader said that since its establishment, BRICS has consistently strengthened multilateral cooperation, becoming not only a symbol but a pillar of multipolarity. According to him, the spirit of mutual respect and equality, along with the appeal of its goals, has inevitably led to the expansion of BRICS.

Lukashenko also thanked Putin for his support, noting that Belarus joins the group as a partner during Russia’s BRICS Chairmanship.

The ministry said in a statement that Belarus's new status in BRICS provides for permanent participation in special sessions of summits and meetings of foreign ministers. In addition, the partners will be able to join the final documents of the group, thus expanding their geographical coverage.

The list of BRICS partner states was agreed at the summit of the group, which was held in Kazan on 22-24 October. According to Putin, the final list will be made public after all these countries receive a positive response to the invitation to participate in the group in this format.
