TV BRICS Media Network will present the documentary film "Heilongjiang: sustainable economic development zone". The film was presented on the air of TV BRICS and will now be available to viewers of the international network. In addition, the film will be shown on 2 December on the TV channel "Prodvizhenie", a partner of the TV BRICS.

On 30 August 2019, the Chinese leadership officially opened a pilot free trade zone in Heilongjiang Province as part of the Belt and Road Initiative. The main goals of this large-scale economic project were to liberalise and simplify trade processes, increase the openness of its procedures, attract investment, and sustainably develop industrial cooperation with neighbouring Russia and other countries. In 2023, just four years after its launch, the pilot FTZ already has about 25,000 new enterprises operating in it, and foreign trade volume has reached about 124 billion yuan (US$17.4 billion).

How this new Chinese economic miracle works is the subject of a joint project by TV BRICS and Heilongjiang Broadcasting (Heilongjiang Province Omnimedia Centre).

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative.

"By co-producing a film about the Heilongjiang Pilot Free Trade Zone with TV BRICS, we will tell Chinese and Russian viewers about mutually beneficial cooperation, the strong bond between peoples, the results of joint development under the Belt and Road Initiative, and show the real benefits that the Heilongjiang Pilot FTZ has brought to the people of the two countries," said the editorial board of Dongbeiwang Internet Media, one of the most influential media organisations in northeast China with more than 10 million subscribers.

The documentary is also expected to be shown soon on the Russian TV channels NZhK, Mordovia 24, Channel 10, as well as on the websites of a number of other Russian and Chinese leading media outlets.

"Dongbeiwang" is the only official news website and internet portal in Heilongjiang, established in 2001. More than five thousand articles are published daily on the Internet resource. The average attendance of the portal is close to 22 million people per day.
