Nearly 2,000 medical workers are on call around-the-clock to assist athletes competing at this year's FISU World University Games in Chengdu. Zheng Songwu caught up with some of them at the athletes' village.
Over 6,000 athletes from more than 100 countries and regions are taking part at the University Games in Chengdu. The Sichuan Province Health Commission has for months been preparing to put in place a network of medical support for competitors at the athletes' village and competition venues.
WU LIN Doctor, Orthopedic Hospital of Sichuan Province "This is a hockey player. She has a collateral ligament injury. When a player is injured, usually we suggest the player exercise other healthy parts of the body instead of resting for too long time."
Medical staff from the provincial orthopedic hospital and sports rehabilitation experts are on duty at the athletes' village.

We have also reserved a quick emergency channel in the radiology department and the CT department. Once the injured athletes are sent to us, they can be treated quickly, which saves them at least 30 minutes every time."
The Health Commission of Chengdu has also sent practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine to assist the athletes.

We also set up a traditional Chinese medicine display at the main Games venue so that athletes can receive massages and get to know Chengdu and its traditional Chinese medicine well."
More than 1800 medical workers from Sichuan, among them intensive care and infectious disease experts are on standby around the clock at all the venues and hotels where athletes are staying.
