Tourist sites across Heilongjiang are busy preparing for the 2022-2023winter tourism season as the signature international ice and snow festival is scheduled to open on January 5th in Harbin.
The north bank of the Songhua River in Harbin is illuminated as night falls. Thanks to round-the-clock construction, the "Ice and Snow Crown", the main tower of the 24th Harbin Ice and Snow World has been completed. The 41-meter-high main tower, which consumed 11,000 cubic meters of ice, is designed to resemble the lilac flower -- the symbol of Harbin City. Petals are clustered together to form the shape of a crown. The element of eighth notes used in the tower platform represents Harbin’s honor as one of the 6 UNESCO Cities of Music.
In Mudanjiang City, the Fengyuezhongxing car camp resort has been decorated with Korean nationality characteristics, with the main snow sculpture – the Arirang love song being carved. The 6-meter-high sculpture is expected to be unveiled on the 20th of this month.
Other delicate snow sculptures depicting the lives of ethnic Korean characters are also being created.
The 39th International Ice and Snow Festival will open in Harbin on January 5th, 2023.
