Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng held talks with Daniel Kritenbrink, U.S. assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, and Laura Rosenberger, senior director for China at the National Security Council, on December 11 and 12 in north China's Hebei Province, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
The two sides conducted in-depth communications on implementing the consensus reached last month by the Chinese and U.S. presidents in Bali, Indonesia, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said at the regular press conference.
Wang said the two sides also discussed advancing consultations on the guiding principles of China-U.S. relations and properly handling major sensitive issues in bilateral relations such as the Taiwan question, as well as the strengthening of exchanges at all levels, and cooperation in certain fields.
Moreover, they exchanged extensive views on international and regional issues of common interests, the spokesperson said, adding both sides agreed that the talks were frank, in-depth and constructive, and they will maintain communication.
According to the press release of the U.S. Department of State, the visit will pave the way for its Secretary of State Antony Blinken's early 2023 visit to China. And in the following two days, the two U.S. officials will also visit South Korea and Japan, holding consultations on a range of regional and bilateral issues.
