Muli county in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Sichuan Province boasts a forest coverage rate of 69.86 percent. Home to one of the few contiguous primitive forests in China, it provides a sound environment for wild animals inhabiting the region. Statistics indicate that there are 353 species of terrestrial wild animals in Muli county.
Recently, a local wild animal monitoring team released pictures and videos of wild animals it had spotted in Muli county. Established in 2017, the 23-member monitoring team has installed 185 infrared cameras in the wild in Muli county. At present, it has monitored more than 60 species of wild animals in the county, including eight wild animals under first-class state protection in China, 15 wild animals under second-class state protection in China, and other rare animals.
