A company based in Harbin -- capital city of China's northernmost Heilongjiang province -- contributed to the successful launch on June 5 of the Shenzhou XIV spaceship from the prefecture-level city of Jiuquan, in Northwest China's Gansu province.
Northeast Light Alloy Co, operator of China's biggest aluminum-magnesium alloy production base, supplied a large number of aluminum alloy sheets, forgings, profiles and pipes for the spacecraft.
The products were used in the spacecraft's key components, including the orbital cabin shell structure, skin, seat metal structure and portable water storage bracket.
"After many rounds of experimentations, we successfully solved many professional and technical problems such as substandard sheet plasticity and corrosion resistance and finally produced qualified high-performance sheets for the Shenzhou XIV spaceship, " said the director of the company's Dongqing Technology Center, Cong Fuguan.
