Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index retreating 2.41 percent to 3,070.93 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 3.34 percent lower at 11,065.92 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 990.4 billion yuan (148.78 billion U.S. dollars), up from 859.7 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Stocks related to e-commerce, digital currency and COVID-19 treatment led the declines.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 3.82 percent to close at 2,318.07 points. -
